Free creator tool

Preview any LUT on your own footage.

Drop a .cube or .3dl LUT and a photo or video frame. It grades in real time on your graphics card, with a wipe slider, side by side, an intensity control and a grid that compares every LUT at once. Five free Shinel LUTs included.

  • Real-time WebGL
  • .cube and .3dl, up to 65^3
  • Never uploaded
WebGL2 is off in this browser, so the preview uses a slower CPU path.

How to use it

  1. Add a frame. Drop a photo or a still, or drop a video and scrub to the frame you want to grade. You can also start with the test image.
  2. Add your LUTs. Drop one or more .cube or .3dl files (up to 65x65x65). Five free Shinel LUTs are already loaded so you can compare against them.
  3. Compare. Drag the wipe slider, switch to side by side, set the intensity, or press Compare all to see every LUT on the same frame in a grid.
  4. Export. Save the graded still as PNG or JPG at full resolution, and download any of the free Shinel LUTs as .cube files for your editor.

What a LUT does

A 3D LUT (look-up table) is a grid of colours: for every input colour it stores an output colour, and the colours in between are blended from the nearest grid points. A 33-point LUT holds 35,937 of them. That is why a LUT can do things a single slider cannot, like warming skin while cooling shadows, and why the same LUT looks different on different footage. Always judge a LUT on your own frame, at a few intensities, before committing a whole edit to it.

Want a grade that is built for your footage, not a preset?

Shinel Studios edits and colour grades YouTube videos, Shorts and podcasts, matching shots and skin tones across the whole video.

Frequently asked questions

How do I preview a .cube LUT online?

Drop the .cube file and an image or video frame onto this page. The LUT is applied on your graphics card in real time, with a wipe slider and side-by-side view to compare it against the original. Nothing is uploaded.

Which LUT formats work?

3D .cube files (the format Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and most cameras use) and 3D .3dl files, at any size up to 65x65x65. 1D LUTs are not supported.

Are the Shinel LUTs really free?

Yes. The five Shinel LUTs (Teal and Orange, Warm Film, Cool Clean, B&W Contrast and Vibrant Shorts) are our own looks, generated from colour maths. Use them in personal and commercial projects; please do not resell them as a LUT pack.

How do I use a .cube LUT in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

In Premiere Pro, open Lumetri Color and choose the file under Creative, Look, or Basic Correction, Input LUT. In DaVinci Resolve, copy it into the LUT folder (Project Settings, Color Management, Open LUT Folder), refresh, then right-click a node and pick it under LUT.

Should a LUT go on log or normal footage?

Creative looks like these are built for normal (Rec.709) footage. On log footage, first apply your camera's conversion LUT or a colour-space transform, then the creative look, otherwise colours will be off.

Is my video or image uploaded?

No. Files are read in your browser and graded on your own device. The page works without sending your footage anywhere, and there is no sign-up.
