Kruti Dev to Unicode, and back.

Hindi typed in Kruti Dev or Chanakya turns into gibberish like "Hkkjr" anywhere that font is missing. Paste it here and get real Unicode Hindi (भारत) that works in WhatsApp, Google Docs and on the web. Need the old font for a government form? Convert Unicode back to Kruti Dev.

Conversion follows the standard Kruti Dev 010 and Chanakya layouts. Very old documents sometimes mix fonts or use custom glyphs; check names and numbers after converting.

How to convert Kruti Dev text to Unicode

  1. Pick the direction. Kruti Dev to Unicode makes old text readable everywhere; Unicode to Kruti Dev gives you text for forms and software that still need the old font.
  2. Pick the font. Kruti Dev 010 is the common one. Choose Chanakya if your text came from a newspaper-style document with symbols like ÖæÚÌ.
  3. Paste the text. Paste into the left box. The result appears on the right as you type.
  4. Copy the result. Press Copy result and paste it where you need it. For Kruti Dev output, set the font of that text to Kruti Dev 010.

Why Kruti Dev text breaks

Kruti Dev is a font, not a language encoding. It draws Hindi letters on top of English keys, so the file really contains English letters: d is क, k is the ा sign, and f is the ि that is typed before its letter. Without the font installed, or on a phone, you see the raw letters.

Unicode stores the actual Hindi letters in the right order, which is why it works in every app, can be searched by Google and can be read by screen readers. The converter swaps the codes and fixes the two marks that Kruti Dev types out of order: the ि matra and the reph (र् on top of a letter).

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Kruti Dev to Unicode?

Paste the Kruti Dev text into the left box with Kruti Dev to Unicode selected. The Unicode Hindi appears on the right; press Copy result. It runs in your browser, so long documents convert instantly and nothing is uploaded.

Can I convert Unicode Hindi back to Kruti Dev?

Yes. Choose Unicode to Kruti Dev, paste the Hindi text, copy the result, and set the font of that text to Kruti Dev 010 in Word or the form you are filling.

Does it work with Chanakya font?

Yes. Pick Chanakya above the boxes. Chanakya text looks like symbols (ÖæÚÌ for भारत) rather than letters; the tool recognises it and suggests the right font when you paste.

Is Mangal the same as Unicode?

Mangal is a Unicode font. Text typed in Mangal, Nirmala UI or Noto Sans Devanagari is already Unicode, so you only need this tool for text typed in Kruti Dev, Chanakya or similar legacy fonts.

Why are a few letters wrong after converting?

Some documents mix fonts, use a variant of Kruti Dev, or include symbols drawn with other fonts. Check names, numbers and rare conjuncts after converting, and fix them by hand or with the Hindi typing tool.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion runs on your device in the browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
