Free tool · nothing is uploaded

GIF maker, from photos or video.

Drop a few images (or a video). Drag them into order, set how long each frame shows, add a caption and make the GIF, all inside your browser. No account, no watermark.

Drop images (or a video) here

JPG, PNG, WebP, or a video. Or paste with Ctrl+V. It never leaves your device.

No upload · no sign-up · no watermark

Private by design

Your file is processed inside this browser tab. It is never uploaded, so there is nothing to leak and no queue to wait in.

Hardware fast

WebCodecs uses your device's own video chip, so most clips convert in seconds. A backup engine handles the odd formats.

Small by default

Smart size fixes the usual mistakes: too many frames, too many pixels, repeated frames, black bars and bitrates above the original.

How to make a GIF from pictures

  1. Add your images. Drop JPG, PNG or WebP images (or choose them). They stay on your device.
  2. Put them in order. Drag a frame to move it, or use the arrow buttons. Remove any you do not want.
  3. Set the timing. Set one speed for every frame or change a single frame's time, and choose loop forever or play once.
  4. Choose the shape. Pick 1:1, 9:16, 16:9 or 4:5 and whether images fill the frame or fit inside it, then add a caption if you want.
  5. Make the GIF. Press Make GIF, check the size, and download or share it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a GIF from photos?

Drop the photos onto the drop zone, drag them into the order you want, set how long each one shows (half a second is a good start), then press Make GIF. Everything happens in your browser, so even private photos are safe.

How many images can a GIF have?

As many as you like, but every frame adds size. For a slideshow GIF, 5 to 30 images at 480 to 640 px wide stays comfortably small. Similar images (like a burst of photos) compress much better than very different ones.

Can I make a GIF from a video instead?

Yes. Drop a video on this page or use the Video to GIF tool: trim it on the filmstrip, crop, caption and convert.

What size should a GIF be for Slack, Discord or a website?

480 px wide is the sweet spot for chat apps and most websites. Keep it under about 5 MB for fast loading; Discord's free limit is 10 MB and GIFs on X can be up to 15 MB.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, on your own device. Your video, GIF or images are never uploaded to Shinel Studios or anyone else, which is also why there is no queue, no file-size paywall and no watermark. Once the converter has loaded you could even go offline and it would keep working (the backup engine, when a file needs it, is a one-time download).

Is it really free? Is there a watermark?

Free, no sign-up and no watermark. Shinel Studios is a video editing studio; this tool is a free sample of the care we put into creators' files.
