Cursive text you can copy and paste anywhere.

Cursive text is Unicode's Mathematical Script letters. There are two sets: light script (𝒮𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑒𝓁) and bold script (𝓢𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓮𝓵). Both work in bios, names and posts across Instagram, TikTok, Discord and more.

Back to plain text

Paste fancy text (cursive, bold, glitch, upside down, bubbles) to get normal letters back, for example to make it searchable or readable.

Why some cursive letters look different

Eleven light-script letters (ℬ ℰ ℱ ℋ ℐ ℒ ℳ ℛ and ℯ ℊ ℴ) were added to Unicode years earlier than the rest, in the Letterlike Symbols block. Phones draw them from a different font, so they can look slightly bigger or thinner than their neighbours. Bold script has no such gaps, which is why it looks more even and is the more popular cursive style.

Where cursive works

Instagram and TikTok bios and names, Discord display names, YouTube channel names, captions and comments. It does not work in usernames or handles on any platform, and it is filtered in Roblox and most console names.

When not to use it

For keywords and names people search for. Search on every major platform reads plain letters, so a cursive word is not found. Screen readers also read script letters badly, often as 'mathematical script capital S'.

Frequently asked questions

How do I type in cursive on Instagram?

Instagram has no cursive setting. Type your text here, copy the cursive style and paste it into your bio, name or caption.

Why do some cursive letters look different?

Eleven light-script letters come from an older Unicode block and are drawn from a different font. Bold script has none of these gaps, so it looks more even.

Is this real cursive handwriting?

No, it is a set of Unicode characters that look like script letters. That is why it can be pasted anywhere text is accepted, without installing a font.

Can screen readers read cursive text?

Poorly. Many read each letter as a maths symbol or skip it. Use cursive for decoration, not for your name or key words.

Where does cursive not work?

Usernames and handles, Roblox and console names, and anywhere search matters.
