How fancy fonts work (and the honest catch)

Apps do not let you pick a font, so this tool swaps each letter for a Unicode character that looks styled: Mathematical Bold for bold, Mathematical Script for cursive, small capitals, circled letters, or combining marks for strikethrough and glitch. Because they are characters, they paste anywhere and look the same to everyone. The catch: screen readers often spell them out or skip them, in-app search cannot find them, and many count as two characters. Every style carries a readability badge, and each platform page lists where styles break. Keep names, keywords, dates and links plain.

How to use the font generator

  1. 1Type your text. Type a name, bio line or caption in the box.
  2. 2Customise. Change case, letter spacing, decorations and glitch intensity, or mix a different style for each word.
  3. 3Check the limit. Pick your platform and field. The counter counts fancy letters the strict way.
  4. 4Copy and paste. Tap a style to copy it and paste it into the app.

Frequently asked questions

How does a font generator work if apps do not let me change fonts?

It does not change the font. It swaps your letters for Unicode characters that look styled, such as Mathematical Bold or circled letters. Because they are characters, not formatting, they paste anywhere text is accepted and look the same to everyone.

Is this font generator free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us.

Why do some fancy fonts show as boxes?

The viewer's device has no font containing that character. Bold, italic, cursive and small caps are safe on current phones. Upside-down capitals, letter tiles and rare symbols are the most likely to show boxes.

Are fancy fonts bad for accessibility?

They can be. Screen readers often spell maths letters out one by one or skip them, and in-app search cannot find them. Every style here carries a badge saying how readable it is. Keep names, keywords, dates and links in plain text.

Why does my fancy text use up the character limit faster?

Many fancy letters are stored as two units of text, and X counts most of them as two. Our counter uses the strict count for each platform, so if it fits here it fits there.

Can I use fancy fonts in usernames?

Almost never. Instagram, TikTok, X, Discord, YouTube handles, Roblox, Minecraft and console names only accept plain letters, numbers and a few symbols. Use the name-safe styles for those.

How do you add new trending styles?

Our team adds styles as they trend. When a new look shows up in bios, we work out the exact Unicode characters and add it to the Trending section at the top.
