Glitch text with an intensity slider.

Glitch or Zalgo text stacks combining marks, the small accents Unicode uses for letters like é, above, through and below each letter until it looks corrupted. A little looks edgy; a lot covers the lines around it. Use the slider to pick how much.

Counted the strict way: many fancy letters are stored as 2 characters, so if it fits here, it fits in the app.

Back to plain text

Paste fancy text (cursive, bold, glitch, upside down, bubbles) to get normal letters back, for example to make it searchable or readable.

How glitch text works

Each letter is followed by random combining marks from the Combining Diacritical Marks block (U+0300 to U+036F). Phones stack them on the letter before. Our generator uses the same random marks for the same text and intensity, so what you copy is exactly what you saw.

Where it breaks

Many Discord and Twitch moderation bots delete glitch text. Instagram and TikTok bios clip it, and comments may be hidden as spam. Some apps limit how many marks can stack. Intensity 1 to 3 survives the most places.

Accessibility

Screen readers either skip glitch text or read every mark, which is unbearable. Never use it for information people need, like your name, dates or links.

How to make glitch (zalgo) text

  1. 1Type your text. Type a short word or name above.
  2. 2Set the intensity. Use the glitch slider: 1 to 3 is subtle, 8 to 10 is chaos.
  3. 3Copy. Tap the Glitch card to copy.
  4. 4Paste and check. Paste it and look at the result; lower the intensity if it overlaps other text.

Frequently asked questions

What is Zalgo text?

Text with many combining marks stacked on each letter so it looks glitched or corrupted. The name comes from an internet horror meme.

Why was my glitch text deleted?

Many servers and chats run moderation bots that remove it, because heavy glitch text covers other messages. Use a low intensity.

How do I remove glitch text?

Paste it into the Back to plain text box on this page: it removes every glitch mark and gives you the plain words back.

Does glitch text work on Instagram and TikTok?

Light glitch text does. Heavy text gets clipped in bios and can overlap your profile header.

Is glitch text bad for accessibility?

Yes. Screen readers skip it or read every mark. Use it for decoration only.
