Strikethrough and underline text.

Strikethrough text (s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶) is made by adding a combining mark after every letter: a long stroke (U+0336) for strikethrough, a low line (U+0332) for underline, and others for slashes, waves and dots. It works in bios, posts and comments where there is no formatting.

Back to plain text

Paste fancy text (cursive, bold, glitch, upside down, bubbles) to get normal letters back, for example to make it searchable or readable.

How the lines are drawn

Each mark attaches to the letter before it, so the generator adds one after every letter and skips spaces. On some fonts the strokes do not quite join between letters; that is the font, not the text.

Use real strikethrough where it exists

Discord (~~strike~~) and WhatsApp (~strike~) have real strikethrough that stays readable and searchable. Use the Unicode version on Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and Facebook, which have none.

Popular uses

Crossed-out prices in sale posts (₹999 → ₹499), self-aware jokes (I will post daily), and underlined headings in bios. Combine bold with strikethrough for a stronger look.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cross out text on Instagram?

Instagram has no strikethrough button. Type the words here, copy Strikethrough and paste.

Why are there gaps in my strikethrough line?

The line is drawn letter by letter. Some fonts leave small gaps between letters; it still reads as crossed out.

Can I strike through numbers and prices?

Yes. The mark is added after every character except spaces, including digits and the ₹ sign.

Which apps have real strikethrough?

Discord (~~text~~), WhatsApp (~text~) and Telegram have real strikethrough. Use it there.

Can screen readers read strikethrough text?

Usually they read the letters and ignore or announce the marks. It is more readable than most fancy text, but still not ideal for key information.
